The pihp board of directors

The Thumb Alliance PIHP is managed by a nine-member Board of Directors. The board is made up of the chairperson (or his/her designate) from each of the boards of directors of the three CMHs; the chief executive officer of each CMH; and three at-large members who represent the populations served -- individuals with mental illnesses, individuals with developmental disabilities and inviduals with substance use disorders.

The board adopts by-laws, strategic plans, policies, budgets and operational protocols for the PIHP in its primary responsibility, which is overseeing and supervising its Medicaid contract with the Michigan Department of Community Health.

The board's responsibilities include insuring that the PIHP provides the contractually specified services to eligible populations in accordance with all federal and state regulations, within its budget limits, and in a way that enshrines as much local autonomy as possible.
